Default Rear bumper stops

Rear bump stops rotted away... I see from the thread that the discontinued OEM is https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-pa...bC12Ni1nYXM%3D I think those are around six inches tall and in my Xtreme they would nearly fill the entire gap to the receiver cup. I wonder if that is correct. In a previous thread someone, maybe Christine, noted the official name is Spring Assists, so maybe they are supposed to go all the way to the spring. That would explain why they are so beat up.

Does anyone know how the original units fit? and I wonder if anyone has replaced old with something else, and what worked?

I'm not sure how they sat on the Xtreme suspension, but I know on my old 96 4-door Blazer there was about 1" of space between the urethane stop and the cup at factory saggy springs ride height. It's entirely possible that from factory that would have been more.

I've looked into replacements for these. When I get ti my computer I can see what I might have saved.

Regarding ride height, I realized that my rear springs have sagged also.

I was able to find where I previously found aftermarket rubber auxiliary springs for Blazers:
https://www.etrailer.com/Vehicle-Sus...ID=19991007395 (2,000 lb cap.)
https://www.etrailer.com/Vehicle-Sus...ID=19991008515 (3,000 lb cap.)

And here is general info on them:
https://timbren.com/pages/aeon-springs

Mine are still in good shape but I took a couple pictures of what they look like as a reference.

I see this one 3.3" x 6" .. would likely fill the whole gap and hopefully would have some give in it.
Amazon Amazon
Christine do you remember your installation, could these just pop into the cup??

The auxiliary spring/bump-stops on my Blazer are original. I could go out and measure them for you so you get an idea of you would want in a substitute. Remember, that what you want is something with about the same spring-rate and damping which is determined by the shape (inside and outside) and type of material used. As such I'd try your best to find substitutes that are for a vehicle as similar to a Blazer as possible.

Something I for got to add to my post is that my rear springs have sagged so that even with a longer shackle, the ride height is about stock.

P.S. BTW, when I did a search for the markings on my aux. springs, "BASF 15697691," on Google, I found a couple websites in I think Indonesia that had them. LOL I have no idea if they are legit or even if you could get them shipped to you.

How do you use your Blazer? Do you haul much in it or with it? If not, what you get for replacements likely doesn't matter much. If you do put a load in or on it, then you might want to be careful with what you choose to install and might even seriously want to consider the ones at etrailer.com.

No Christine, thx for the offer but if I'm serious I can go out and pull mine.
Those indonesian bumpstops look pretty OEM. 99% of my driving is on city streets so IDK if I could justify paying 100 rupees apiece for them though
