Default Rear Caliper Bleeder Location

2001 Blazer 4x4

what is the proper location of the rear brake caliper bleeder screws? Top or bottom? Mine are on the bottom, I have always understood that these should be on the top because air will rose through the fluid. Are my calipers on the wrong sides? I have never had them completely removed so i haven't mixed them up.

Bleeder has to be at the top. You're right, they were installed on the wrong sides.

Curious, on my 2002 2 wheel drive, the driver side rear bleeder is on top, the passenger side rear is on the bottom.

That means that the caliper on the passenger side must be designed for the drivers side, it must have been replaced at some point with the wrong caliper.

Even more curious. I bought the Blazer new and recently got rear replacement loaded calipers from NAPA. No one else has worked on the brakes. The OEM set up was the same with the orientation of the bleeders. Maybe they built it on a Friday evening.

According to NAPA, they have the same part number for left and right, BUT anso show two different part numbers for left and right that have bleeders on different sides

NAPA Calipers

I see now. Thank you. I didn't go the extra step with the part numbers. Since they both bolted up I overlooked that. I did leave the RR loose with the bleeder pointed up while it gravity bled. Learn something new everyday. Thanks again for pointing this out.
