Rear Lift Glass Support

Rear Lift Glass Support
I have a 2001 Blazer....the rear lift glass support arm has a broken ball joint. The ball joint that connects (welded?)to the body has broken right off from overuse.
Any ideas?...anyone ever had to deal with this?

I haven't dealt with that exact issue.
However, I've added gas lift struts (like the ones used for the tail glass) to the hood of a few cars that came with hood prop rods. McMaster-Carr has ball studs available for that. Look for 'Ball stud for gas springs' on their site. You might be able to put a threaded insert in there and thread one of those in, or worst case, tack weld a flanged nut in place and use it to hold one.
