Default Rear Passenger Door Stuck?

Hey all,

Ever since I got my Jimmy a year ago, the rear passenger door wont open from the inside or out. I'm 90 percent sure the locking mechanism must've failed at some point and locked it permanently.

My challenge is getting the door panel off without damaging the panel. Any ideas? Maybe have a locksmith jimmy the door unlocked?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I think you can get the panel off with the door closed without any damage...I think that is. It has been quite some time since I even had the panel off of one of the rear doors.

Let us know what you do.
Good luck.

Well, I was able to get the rear door panel off with a little force (and a few snapped parts), however getting to the back of the door panel did nothing. All the parts there seem to be moving freely and without issue. It's almost like someone actually WELDED the damn thing in place. I even took a video of the door latch inside and everything seemed perfect.

So, now back to square one.

Well, after a teardown and a ton of WD40, it proved to be that the door latch was seized all to ****. Finally got it free and it works like a charm.

Was pretty sure it was the lock mechanism that was the problem; they can get water in them and/or the grease gets old and the small parts no longer move.

Good to hear that you got it working and hopefully the door panel goes back into place okay.

Good job!

Panel went in pretty good once that door was open.

In case anyone stumbles on this, you can take the back door panel off without needing the door open. It's just a PITA and you may break a clip or two.

This has been a good kick in the butt for me....the right rear door is sticking and I need to clean the lock while I can still get the door to open.
