Regular Production Option (RPO) Codes

In the glove box of your Blazers/Jimmys/Bravadas is a Service Parts Identification Label (SPIDS) with a bunch of 3 digit codes called RPO codes. These codes tell you what options are on your vehicle. The following link will allow you to type in your RPO codes and translate them for you. You can then copy the contents from the description page to MS word, or Notepad (I used notepad so as not to copy any HTML over) and print them out should you wish to do so.

S10 Forum.com RPO code translator - broken link

This is handy to tell you things such as axle gear ratio, transmission type etc.

Try COMPNINE.com's VIN Decoder

This was excatly what I was looking for! God bless the search function! It saves endlessly repeated questions! My friend that bought my truck asked me what tranny it has and I was clueless. Thanks 93LT and swart!.

THREAD REVIVAL... I am looking up rpo codes and this thread is perfecto.... thank god for the search button

hey odd question how would you find the rpo codes if that sticker has been peeled out of the glove box?

swartlkk 03-01-2010 02:17 PM

You can try to put your VIN into compnine.com's VIN decoder. It is limited to how far back it goes though. If that doesn't work, then the dealership may be able to run your VIN, but there records have a shelf life too.

thanks for the help i went on compnine.com and found everything i was looking for. i had a po758 code come up and needed to know what tranny i had to find parts for it and it was listed right there when i put in my vin.

Does anyone know if the interior colors are listed as an RPO code? I've been searching the internet but it isn't very helpful. I know the exterior color is a code, so I don't see why the interior wouldn't be. Just wondering, ready to start pulling out my hair

The S10 forum RPO decoder is no longer running. What is the other site mentioned we may use to decode options? Thanks.

Great RPO lookup

Hey, this is my first post so I apologize if I'm replying to an old thread. Last month I bought a 2001 LT 4dr. Last week the Helms manuals I bought arrived and I looked up all the RPO codes but about 10 of them weren't listed, so I went searching on the web and found a great site that has an outstanding RPO lookup. It's on the www.gm-trucks.com site, and it's easy enough to find but the link right to it is: GM-Trucks.com | RPO Code Lookup=. It seems to know all codes. It even told me that RPO code BQ2 means "FLEET INCENTIVE AVIS CORP". Interesting since the CarFax I pulled before I bought it said the first owner was a rental fleet but didn't mention a company. It also had another RPO code that said it was contracted for repurchase by GM for dealer resale (also consistent with the CarFax). I figure if they can find that they can find anything.

Try COMPNINE.com's VIN Decoder

The link did not work for me. I really am interested in the codes / what options are on my vehicle. I wonder if this can be done from the VIN. Most search sites try to rope you into a membership - even for a "one time" search (ei: CarFax.) The white sticker in my glove box has been spray painted black. Then someone tried to clean off the paint with something strong enough to take the black ink away with the paint.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Compnine site worked for me

I just paid my $5 for 5 uses of the vin decoder at Comprehensive Chevrolet, Saturn, GMC, Hummer, Cadillac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Geo, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep, Chrysler, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda Truck, Mercedes VIN Decoder.
And of course my blazer just has the 3.08 gears. Now I need to decide if it would be beneficial to change gearing.
