There is a guide on here but it doesn't really say anything important besides take the old out and put the new in. I was wondering what tool to use to get the hose off of the adapter as there is no room for a socket or a box end wrench. and ideas would be great.

Are you talking about the hose from the engine to the filter? That one is fairly tight to get to. With a little patience and a swivel socket, 13 mm, you fish your way back to the bolt.
I was doing a more indepth tear down, so my front diff was removed, making it easier to get to the adapter.
Others have said that moving the engine up gives you enough clearance to remove that line.
Once the center bolt is removed the oil line assembly comes right out.
You might also check the adapter, my seal was completely crushed and leaking too.
Good luck.

From just over 2 years ago:
And:
The engine mounts can sag over time and decrease the clearance. Try placing a good 2x4 or 2x6 on the top of your jack and lift the engine up off the mounts slightly until you get enough clearance. If that doesn't allow enough clearance, then unbolting the mount would be the next thing to do. That should definitely allow for sufficient clearance.
