remote starter? with pics

this is the box that I was talking about in my previous post. I didn't see any sticker anywhere, but I'm still stumped. Can I look for something in particular like a box or some wires or smoething that will tell me if it is a remote starter.

99% sure thats the onstar antenna--my mother's oldsmobile aurora has a very similar antenna in the same place and does not have remote start--that thing is great for making phone calls when you lose your cell phone like i did this weekend!

Yup, definitely looks like the onstar antenna. My Bonneville has onstar, but my antenna is on the rear window.

It could be for a remote starter. they use antennaes that mount on front widshield. Code alarms do for sure, just installed three last week. if its for a remote starter or alarm,, there will be a box under dash, usually near steering column that the wire off the antenna on windshield runs into, with a bunch of other harnesses there as well.

Ok i have a remote starter and that IS where my "box" is located for it. I was told its the best place for it to be. I will take a pic of it later tonight and post it up for anyone who needs... I have the AutoMate AM9 alarm with remote starter.
Did your truck come with an alarm remote?? if so, and it has a lock and unlock buttons, try hitting them at the same time...thats usually how remote start works.

Do you Have Onstar? Look at bottom rearview mirror for row of buttons like a telephone, blue (Advisor), or Red Cross buttons? Or possibly on overhead console or dash? Otherwise...it's something else.

Well, the picture shows the buttons on the bottom of the rearview mirror... Don't think I originally remembered seeing the rear view in that picture... The OnStar antenna should be located on the passenger rear window. The OnStar unit itself is located behind the trim above the passenger rear tire well.
Do you have rain sensing wipers? LOL I don't even think that is an option, but on my parents old Caddy STS, they had the rain sensing wipers and it had a sensor eye that looked very similar.
Could you take some better pictures?

My Dad's '02 Suburban has the same box and it doesn't have Remote Start, it does have ONstar and did have the calling plan too. However I know he has a little nub antenna outside above the windshield on the roof right above the front passenger seat. No rain sensing wipers either. Not entirely sure what it is, but I think we had it down to something with either the compass(GPS stuff) or OnStar stuff.
I have a feeling it is probably for Onstar seeing as in the original picture I saw the buttons at the bottom of the mirror.

If it's a remote start system, then under the hood, near all the other stickers there should be a "Caution" or "Stop" sticker telling you about how the vehicle has remote start...
And there's going to be a pin style button slong one of the sides of where the hood closes...
