Default repair bearing?

Hey all been awhile. I have a quick question. I wiped out a rear bearing and have to use a National repair bearing. My question is which end goes towards the differential housing. The directions don't make it clear. Thanks

If this is one of those all-in-one bearing/seal repair kits where the seal is integrated into the bearing (as shown in the attached picture), then you will install it with the rubber seal out towards the wheel to keep dirt/debris from entering the bearing and axle housing.

The repair bearings move the seal out further from the bearing to hopefully put it on a fresh surface of the axle shaft to allow it to seal properly. Over time, the seal will wear a groove into the axle shaft causing a leak. Prior to installing the axle shaft, you should thoroughly clean the shaft of any rust, paint, or any other debris for at least 1/2" beyond the original seal groove. Then coat the area on the shaft as well as the seal inside surface with a heavy grease prior to assembly to protect the new seal from a dry start.
