How do you get the axle loose?

you remove the axle and pull the bearing with a 3 jaw puller.

Remove the differential cover, rotate the carrier by
hand until you can access the retaining bolt:

Remove the retaining bolt, (5/16" or 8mm socket) from the pin,
Remove the pin, (slides out) push the axles inboard,
remove the C clips, (they'll probably fall out) pull the axles out.
