Replaced BCM, now Codes B1001 and U1041
2000 Trailblazer 4x4.
I ended up giving my BCM to a friend to fix an urgent problem with his Blazer. I picked up another from a wrecker with the same part number but from a 1999 and installed it. Noticed that the airbag light came on with the replacement BCM. I had the BCM reflashed at a dealer and the airbag light remains on. The two codes showing are B1001 and U1041.
I took it back to the dealer who tried to correct the problem unsuccessfully, then said it must be an incorrect BCM.
From my reading, I believe the problem is a mis-match of Vins between the air bag module and the BCM. Is this a problem that can be corrected with the dealer's Tech 2, or do I need to find a matching air bag module/BCM then have it reflashed?
Thanks...

If the dealer reflashed the BCM, it should match everything else in the truck once that is completed properly. That should have fixed the B1001 code.
U1041 indicates a failure in communication with the EBCM (electronic brake control module).
U1041 indicates a failure in communication with the EBCM (electronic brake control module).
OK, that makes sense. I replaced the brake control module (EBCM) when I got the truck. I assume that the BCM can't communicate with it because the vin or id number does not match the vehicle.
So, the reflash of the BCM should have taken care of the B1001. Since I don't have the complete history on the truck, is it possible that the Air Bag module was replaced or for what ever reason, does not have the original vin?
Can the EBCM and the Air Bag module also be reflashed? If so, if I have all three modules reflashed, will those DTCs disappear?

A couple (well, maybe three) questions for the Tech 2 experts.
1) will a replacement EBCM cause a V1041 DTC?
2) If #1 is yes, is there a VIN stored in the EBCM and can it be reflashed?
3) Can the VIN in the Airbag module be reflashed?
Thanks...Tim
