So, the fuel pump went out about a week ago and the Jimmy has been sitting since then. I changed out the fuel pump Saturday and what a pain it was! This was my first time changing one on this year model. I had an 87' S10 Blazer that I replaced one on several years ago and it did not seem like it was that involved.

I went ahead and replaced the fuel filter while I was at it since it has 191,000 miles on it. Who else thinks that the fuel filter is in a stupid location?

 

i just did mine saturday.. i agree 100%. mine fought me tooth and nail.. stripped out bolt on the back strap.. had to cut the bolt.. fabricate a new mounting bracket for it.. broke the vent valve.. it sucked.

 

Yup. I did mine a few weeks back which come to find out it probably wasn't the problem. I also broke the vent valve on my tank. Of course it's not a replaceable part on my 1999 blazer. I tried some epoxy with no luck. I broke the small piece to the front strap but picked up the part for a few bucks. Picked up a used tank at a local junk yard for short money so I now have to burn through the tank of fuel before I swap it out.

 

I guess I was lucky that I did not break my tank vent. I came close though. I thought I had everything loose but it was hanging up on the vent. I ended up breaking the old fuel pump to get the lines off after doing some research on here. I don't remember who said to it that way, but thanks.

 

on related to the jimmy/blazer but on my 94 Silverado Im in the process of changing and redoing the entire fuel system,tank,fuel pump and fuel filter. the pump is underneath the bed behind the drivers side.Would be a pia but I have my bed off at the moment since its also being replaced

 

On pickups,it's easier to remove the bed.For us 2nd gen owners it's either drop the tank or cut the access panel.
