Is this the right locker for my truck?

Underneath where it says 28 spline. It says govlock. The other one that I found is the same as this except in place of govlock it says open. I could always ask customer support at jegs. But I will probably go with the one you posted. The only thing that makes me lean towards this is the slightly cheaper price and ease of installation. I read a review of it and it says that people with even a limited mechanical background could do it.
Ultimately it's your choice either way you go. But if it were MY truck i'd go with the true detroit locker, 1 because of streetability (and not having the annoying ratchet sound & clunkyness around turns) and 2 because I'd rather not **** around with the spider gears and their retaining s-spring thingy.)
Edit: Ok now after rereading that page in your link it does say it's streetable and won't give you the ratcheting (in the one you posted) I'm still not seeing the part where it says about the gov lock, however that may be because i'm just clicking your link and not inputting all the info about your truck.

I found a site where they review this locker as well as detail installation. This site was what made me want one in the first place.

I would make sure what rear end you have before ordering.
98+ models usually have the 8.5, more so in the 2dr models....

98+ models came with 7.625" usually. Rarely will you find a 8.5" rear.

I have the 8.5 in mine, as do most 2dr models....
I'll take pics if you want, they look similar to the 7.5, to the novice eye, I guess...
Let me educate you a little bit.
As you should know, there are 2 main visual differences between the two.
First, here is a 7.5" rear end. Notice how the axle tubes are straight, and how the rear end cover is more square.
Close up of the axle tube.
Now, heres a picture of the 8.5". Notice how the cover is almost completely round, and the bugle in the axle tube just before it goes into the pumpkin.
Close up of the axle tube. Notice how the tube bulges right before it goes into the pumpkin.
A shot comparing the 8.5" cover (left) and the 7.5" cover(right).

The ZR2 & a few select 2drs with 5spds came with the 8.5, but there are MANY more 7.625 2drs than there are 8.5 2drs. I have yet to see a 4dr with a factory 8.5" diff. Your statement that "I have the 8.5 in mine, as do most 2dr models...." is inaccurate.

I was just telling the man to make sure what rear he had before ordering....

the novice eye? I'm a GM technician. Try again.

Because you put emphasis on photos, shapes of axle tuebs and roundness of cover, I take it the "Code" in the glove box won't tell me which I have.
Mine is a 1999 4dr with Tow package. I'd like to have the larger gears, but my cover is squared so I guess 6.625" I guess.
I'll start looking for a 7.625 3.73 with G-80 to swap.
Thanks for all your good info.
