SES Light blinks?
#1
On my home from work today I noticed 2 things: my voltage meter dropped from 13/14 to the red and my ses light came on but it blinked 14 times before becoming solid.
Naturally the moment I got home I pulled the codes which of course was p0300 & p0300pd. But im more concerned that the light blinked before being solid. Its never done that before, ever. Any ideas as to why it blinked?

A blinking SES indicates a potentially serious engine damaging misfire condition. It needs to be corrected ASAP.

So how would i go about correcting it? I dont know what is causing the misfire. The plugs are new cap, rotor, wires, coil all new. The only thing I havent changed yet is the distributer cuz I cant afford a new one and dont know how to replace it. Knowing my luck it is my distributer tho.

Heres an update with more (possibly important) information about this. The light will blink when im steady at 2k rpms for a few minutes after itshiftec into 3rd. Also my rpm needle stutters at 2k to 2.2k it stops stuttering after I get to 2.5k. Thats when the light starts.blinking, at the stuttering point. The truck will lose power slightly while its doing that and then lmost buck and get its power back at 2.5k. Any ideas atthis point I am definately open to.
Im sorry for making a second post but Im using my phone n the mobile theme doesn't have a edit button that I can find.

May i ask what speed this happens at? I knew someone with a 97 blazer and it would have a hard time staying at 80. It would get to 80 cut out and coast, then at 70 kick back into gear. the computer wasn't being friendly with the trans and ended up needing a new computer which was more then the car at that point

I would suspect a bad distributor gear.

is the voltmeter still in the red? does the voltmeter do anything when the ses flashes? check you battery connections too.

I was thinking distributor as well but I have no clue how to swap them. One more thing that makes me think distributor is it didnt havethis problem before i had to replace my head and intake manifold gaskets. Wondering if it didnt drop in properly or something happened to it during the time it was out of the truck. Is it a general concensus about the distributor?
The volts are not in the red at startup, they quickly drop tho as im driving. Right before they drop the light will blink 14 times, then the volts drop almost in the red. the battery is connected tight, even cleaned the terminals of the corrosion stuff.
