....So I replaced it with a direct fit magnaflo and magnaflo muffler with larger tail pipe. My blazer sounded great but it did not fix my problem. They they said the fuel pressure is way too low. These blazers need a lot of pressure and it has to stay high. I started with the chepest thing. I changed my fuel filter out(couldnt even blow air through it and sludge came out.) and also had my fuel lines flushed and a portion replaced. The problem was still not fixed. So then I had my fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator changed. ...
So in a nut shell do not count out the injectors. My blazer has 150k and the fuel pump, filter, cap, rotor and injectors were all original. Good luck.

Seriously. That sounds like someone sabotaged that fuel tank.

I bought it with 94k and I dont think it was taken care of or even was given a mild tune up. I bought it from a chevy dealer as a "As is no warantee". The tires were showing the threads, mud and hay was all over the interior, melted crayons, fries, and some things I couldnt identify. It was my first car and I was 18. I am now 26 and really have not spent a dime on it until the last year and I do all the work myself so I am saving a bunch. I was going to sell it before moving back to CA but I actually started feeling sad about it and said theres no way I am selling her. I'll build her before I do that. That thing has been great to me.

okay, i did more research and trouble shooting and during my time of research I found a thread where dudes 2000 had a bad splice pack.
This is the thread
BUT his is a 2000... mines not. he fixed his with a splice pack and i have a new question of sorts..
Does the 97 have a splice pack as well or would that of been something GM put in for the newer models?
As I dig up the $140 required for the delco plugs, wires, cap, rotor Im still doing research on the matter and learning.

That splice pack is not present on a '97. The pump grounds directly to the frame back at the tank.

well that works. So I found on a different forum, that the plugs that I have in it now, autolites, aren't the right heat range and could cause my ses to blink since they aren't burning the fuel like the right plugs would do, allowing raw fuel to be dumped into my cat?

These engines are partial to AC Delco Double Platinum plugs, but that is more for their expected life and consistency. I have used Autolite plugs in a lot of other vehicles without problems, but that has always been on the older non-computer controlled engines and not with the really high voltage ignition systems that newer vehicles come with now.
What is the part number off the plugs you have in there now?

its the autolite copper plugs, 1.99 each. part number 605.

they were cheap and i was broke.
I used to have the NGK Ix iridium plugs. part number 7164. Put them in when I got the truck before i knew anything about these vehicles needing delco.

605's are the proper heatrange for your engine. Those plugs should have run properly for 15-20k miles with a little adjustment here and there... The Iridium plugs should have worked decent for maybe 40-50k. Both providing that they were gapped properly to start with. Copper center electrodes don't seem to last too long in these high energy ignition systems though which requires somewhat periodic re-gapping.
You have to have a platinum ground electrode to get ~100k out of a set of plugs which is why the AC Delco Double Platinum plugs are recommended. NGK Double Platinum plugs were also used from the factory in these engines.

Also, would having kerosene in the motor cause the light to blink? i don't remember if i did my oil change after flushing the motor or not. I might not of, which means there is 1 part kerosene, 3 parts oil in it now. Maybe the kerosene is causing the blinking?
EDIT: Just checked my gaps a few minutes ago, they are all at .60 like they should be. I did notice something though that gave me a WTF HOW CAN I MISS THIS *Smack head off wall* kind of moment. Theres a random vaccuum line, running from behind my distributor to my battery tray.. but nothing to plug it into. I searched everywhere on top the motor for any open vaccuum ports, didn't find any. So now im kinda confused as to where it came from and if it has been there the entire time and I just never noticed it. Also i looked for a Evap canister, I couldn't find one anywhere in my motor bay. Not under my battery tray, not by my battery, not under my air duct, not anywhere. So im wondering if the previous owner of this vehicle removed that and left that vac line just hanging there.

im making a check list of things to get/do for my motor to fix this blinking ses light. So far I got
Full tune up with ac delco parts
Clean the EGR valve
BTW I took it to the shop across the street and asked them to do a compression test on it, they said it was fine.
What else should I look into? Is there any special cleaner/tools required to get the egr valve off/cleaned? Im only a few dollars away form being able to doa ll this so the countdown is on and the excitement rises for me.
