Sorry, I know this is a little repetitve, but my smog pump which is 6 months old is toast. It was full of water. I'm trying to get through emissions.

Why do these things take on water? Anything else I should look for?

99 v-6 Auto, 4X4

FYI, its posting all the normal fault codes for the emissions system.

What does the intake tube look like? It should run up along the radiator fan shroud and then have a 90* bend in it with a 45* or so slash cut end. GM revised the intake tube sometime in '00 or '01 if I remember correctly.

It has the long hose that run up the shroud and into the wheel well. No 90 degree elbow.

THIS SCHEMATIC (courtesy of Compnine.com) shows the revised AIR pump intake tube (#10). Like I said, it should extend up to somewhere above the middle of the radiator near the battery It shouldn't just be laying down on the fender. The schematic also shows the plastic clip (#11) that holds it to the shroud.

Ok thanks. Mine runs inside the fender well, but does not have that elbow. I will have to pick that up. I have also replaced the check valves proactively along with this pump.

No problem! I did some quick searching and it looks like this hose may not be available except with the pump assembly. The TSB (#04-06-04-015A) mentions 17803252 which is the entire pump assembly and should include the new intake hose.

Oh, my aftermarket pump did not come with the hose. I'm sure I can make something up to mimic the one in the diagram
