Default Smog pump remove and emissions.

So I think I have one or more back check valves that let too much heat into the AIR system / smog pump. One of the hoses and the 3-way connection that runs to the smog pump are melted along with the pump itself.

Is it possible to just remove this horribly designed system and still pass emissions?

Not without removing the codes dealing with this system from the PCM by way of a tune.

And just because you have one problem with it doesn't mean that it is a horribly designed system. Any problem left unrepaired can cause further damage.

Repair it is I guess.

And yeah it may be my first experience with this system, but all the hot metal to plastic stuff bothers me, especially since it only takes 1 out of a couple part of the whole system to melt the whole thing down or cause a fire if you get unlucky.

Thanks for the info!
