Snap, Crackle, Pop!! Indent bearing worn

As many of you have read my previous post on replacing worn-out bushing and pins, I now tackle the passenger side door issue. I have pushed this off as the passenger side door seldomly gets used. But in any case, the door indent bearing “You know, the thing that holds the door in multiple positions while its open" is seized. When you open the door, the bearing makes an awful popping sound, and it prevents the door from swinging open without a fight. I have ordered the parts to repair it, however it's a bigger job then the pins and bushings. Has anyone ever done this? Is replacing the bearing pin required, or can the drive rivet and bearing only be replaced? I have removed the spring for now to allow ease of door operation, although the door does flop in the wind as there is nothing holding it in-place. I don't recommend this as your passenger can accidentally hit a car parked next to you.

I've never heard of this. Good luck and keep us posted.

You may want to post a picture before and after the fix. It will nicely explain the repair.

This is the bearing I am referring to. As you can see, I removed the spring temporary.

That's great! Thanks for the pictures and numbers. I have to fix one door as well.
