How low can you drop the tire now that the cable is shorter? I am thinking it probably snapped in the same area as mine did.

I got another idea that is sort of like yours.
I think if I can find a plate that will work, I will get a cable crimp (like in the link) to put on the end of the cable. Anybody know the cable size on the hoist?

Cable Crimp Stainless Steel 1/16"

Forgot to ask about the plate size since mine is gone. How long and wide are the stock one? I will probably just use a straight plate so I dont need to know any measurements with the curve of the stock one.
Thanks for all the help so far.

When i drop the tire it will touch the floor enough to get the plate out from the rim also you can use a flat plate as long as its removable and replaceable to the rim

I think those clamps i used are better then the crimps

just loop the cable 6 inches or more and tighten the clamps on it

In the picture i provided see the loop in the clamp ? it prevents it slide off and give it a better grip to the cable

Default my spare tire assembly has seized - Blazer 2000

The entire spare tire assembly on my 2000 Blazer has seized. We live in a seaside community which is probably why. We cannot get the cable to budge, so cutting it is impossible. How do we get to the cable or get to the assembly. Thx.

My cable snapped a few years ago in the employee parking lot... I ended up using a chain to hold the tire up and some short sections of 2x4 on top to keep the tire level. I use a padlock to keep the spare from getting stolen.

Is there anyway to get that hoist off the rear subframe without taking the entire bumper off or drilling a hole in it?
