So today I hooked up my scan tool to the truck and read some live data...I noticed that my spark advance was down to -32 and hovered around -22 normally...is that within spec?

Depends what year, make, model, and engine. The "minus" sign does not mean after top dead center, the engine wouldn't run.
Ignition timing is checked with the engine at idle, (550rpm), at normal operating temp, (~200F), trans in neutral, all accessories off, closed loop operation. If it's 94 or older, the EST wire must be disconnected.
