Default Speedometer sitting at 100mph

I need a little help. My speedometer is sitting at 100mph. Problem is the vehicle is not moving. I took my car in today to get the computer coded. Engine light is on. Evap leak. I brouth it home disconnected the battery and started to look for the leak. When I was done and hooked up the battery and started it to see if the light was on I noticed the speedometer was sitting at 100. Move the car back the driveway and forward again and it hasn't moved. Any ideas?

If 100 MPH is the top speed on the speedometer (I'm in Canada, so our is KM's..not sure how high a MPH one goes) then use a piece of rabbit wire (or any thin, somewhat stiff metal) to use to flip it back over to 0. We did it with mine (apparently it's somewhat common) and stuck it into where the button is for the odo/trip. Just maneuver it (and bend it if needed) to poke the needle back around.

or...

take out the cluster and hold it sideways and shake it like a madman till the needle "falls" to 0. hope it helps!

That works too, but you'd have to take the whole dash apart.

Disconnecting the battery can do that. I usually just drive it about 40 MPH and it will flip around and start working on its own
