*Moved to a new thread* - so we don't take the other thread off topic given that these are two different engine types.
To read the codes on a '95 model year vehicle, you first need to determine what kind of engine management computer there is. There were 3 different types:
But I really would start with a fuel pressure & leak down test. The fuel pressure needs to remain above 55psi at all times and shouldn't drop below 50psi during a 10minute wait from the time that the pump shuts off.
To read the codes on a '95 model year vehicle, you first need to determine what kind of engine management computer there is. There were 3 different types:
- Full OBD1 with the standard square OBD1 plug under the dash and the ECU was located behind the glove box. Codes can be read using the standard "paper clip method" (check troublecodes.net)
- OBD1.5 which was a mix of OBD1 & OBD2; the computer is still located behind the glove box, but the diagnostic port is the OBD2 type (isosceles trapezoid if you are a geometrical kind of person). This type requires a scan tool that specifically calls out that it will work with '95 model year GM products.
- Full OBD2 which will have the PCM located under the hood on top of the coolant overflow bottle on the passenger inner fender.

the obdem check plug is unhooked somewhere n they can't find it there for it's of no use to me. replaced the fuel pump ignition control moduel worked for about 1 mth. the cap n rotor was replaced for the 2nd time it was burnt up but this time is fine. outta ideas
