Hey guys. Just about got all the bugs worked out of my Blazer except one. I noticed when I start it up in the morning, the starter enguages fine and the engine starts fine. But after the enginestarts,I hear a shril grinding sound for about half a second. The funny thing is that it only does this when it is really cold outside, like <20 degrees. After its warmed up proceding startsdo notmake this noise, it also doesnt do it on warm days. Do you guys think that something funny is going on with the starter or could it be something else? Or is it even worth tearing into?

I think mine does the same thing, could be the starter being slow to retract back out of the way.

You could put in a starter shim between the starter and the block to see if that helps.
The shim just spaces the gear teeth a little so they disengage easier.

Until a gear grinds, or the starter clutch freezes up, I'm not overly worried about it...
