Starter problem, back firing, need advice

I do not remember if you did, but try replacing the fuel filter first.
Also, get a professional mechanic with the right tools to pressure test the fuel pump way back at the pump as close as possible to it.
If the pressure is way better directly at the pump then there is something clogging the fuel line.
Whoever replaced the pump mighta got junk in the fuel line somewhere. It could be anywhere along the fuel line, or up at the injector(s).

I would do it by dropping the tank. No reason to punch a hole in the floor. Sounds kind of silly to me. Do it the right way. Also I would get Delco or Delphi fuel pump. . They have been proven to work, don't short yourself by getting junk.

Well, it turned out to be the fuel pump. Put the new one in, wired it up, started with out issue and ran / idled perfect... now to the rest of the cosmetic issues!!
- EDIT -
After putting the pump in the gas hand goes up to 3/4 of a tank, but kinda sways back and forth a little, should I really think this thing is accurate?
I THINK, I remember reading something around the forums about the gas hands acting crazy, any body have any info?
Thanks so much again for all the help with this one, def would've been a pain to figure out with out the help from everyone !!!!
