Default starting issue, need help.

i have a 2000 blazer 4 door 2wd. im having some starting problems, it cranks and cranks and wont start until i try it a couple times. i thought it was a fuel issue. i replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, regulator, and all the injectors. i also have two DTC's. P1404 and P0446. i need some help.

P1404
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Pintle Stuck Open
Replace your EGR valve - it may be causing an improper fuel mixture (lean?) making it harder to start.

P0446
Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction
Not sure what to make of that one... EVAP purge solenoid maybe? -- anyone got any ideas?

Going by what Haynes sez the two may be related as the EVAP purge control solenoid reulates the vacuum signal to the EGR using a "pulse molulated signal".... hmmmm

A 2000 is a electronic EGR valve.

For the P1404, I would clean the EGR valve.

For the P0446, I would check your evap vent valve which is located in the center of the crossmember directly ahead of the spare tire. To access it, lower your spare and you should see a little black box with a cylinder on one end. A ~3/4" vacuum line will be connected to it as well as an electrical connection. Take the top off of the box portion of it and check for obstructions in the valve itself. If you have a spare 12v battery, you can bench test the valve by applying voltage across the electrical terminals. You should hear the valve cycle.
