Default starting issues

Hi guys i have a 2002 Blazer ls 2wd.The problem started last week.I was driving to work and about after driving for around 15 miles the gauge cluster lit up like a christmas tree.Every light was on.It went off after about a minute, all except for the fasten seatbelt. It eventually went off a couple minutes later.Didnt have any problems until monday night which is when the starting problems occured.I go to turn the key and the cluster is dead except for the battery light is on.I have between 12.2 volts and 12.6 volts, when i checked it on different occassions this has happened.I go to start it and i can hear the fuel pump prime and it will start but then die a second later.I let it sit for about 5 min and it ended up starting like normal. Then last night i went to get something to eat and i started it no problems except for all the gauges are dead.A minute after driving they all start working again except the battery and security light is lit up.Drove a few miles and let it sit for a couple hours and didnt have a problem again.I ran some errands earlier today, let it sit for about 4 hours and now its doing it again.Im really not sure what to do,ive never had this issue before on any car.Its now been sitting for almost a full day and still doing the same thing.I go to turn the key and the gauges are all dead except for the battery light is on and the odometer is the only thing working.

Sure sounds like you are experiencing an ignition switch failure. Have a read through the link in the bottom of my signature.

The links in my signature will help you greatly! Specifically the Anatomy of the Ignition Switch and the Tech Article (DIY) Index links.
