Default starting problem

Sometimes my blazer will not turn over. New battery and everything checked and turns out ok. All lights come on but turn key and NO sound no nothing. I was using a spare key i dont know where it was made at, then switched to the chevrolet key and haven't had this prob since. Is the chip in the chevrolet key better? I'm assuming this was the prob. But it started usually with other key i was using. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

That sounds odd. I thought it might be an ignition switch fault, but if the problem went away with a different key then I'm not sure. FYI the keys used in the Blazers are not chipped. The later model Blazers do have an imobilizer system, but it's all part of the lock mechanism and is independant of the key.

If it were the passlock system activating, the engine would start then immediately shut down.

It sounds like it is a mere coincidence that the factory key works fine and the problem will eventually return. It likely is burnt/corroded connections in the ignition switch. I created a post a long time ago (link below) on the inner workings of the ignition switch. Of course that is pertinent to the 98+ trucks and you are keeping the details of your ride secret.

*Moved to 2nd Gen Tech* - OPs previous post was in this section so I'm guessing that he has a 96+ truck.
