Default Steering binding up

I have a 1999 4 door that when I turn the steering wheel to the left after about a quarter of a turn the steering binds up and then gets loose,it will do this only turning left.I have only owned this for a month and it just started doing this, could this be a sticking valve in the steering gear and would flushing the system fix this problem or does the steering gear need to be replaced?

Have you checked your serpentine belt to see if it is slipping. If you think it is the power steering pump or box might try adding a few ounces of Lucas trans slip additive. & see what that does. You may have a problem with your steering box or column. The column could be binding also. To check it disconnect it from the steering box.

I have replaced the belt,I don't think the column is binding because the binding occurs
anywhere in the turning radius as long as it is being turned left.It seems to be worse
at the straight ahead position though.
