Default STEERING COLUMN REPLACE.

Anyone: is it difficult to replace steering column on 1999 S10 blazer 2door auto 4x4 with tilt wheel.
Are there any special tools needed? All data shows small punch like tool to insert in column to lock it. Is this tool a must have? Is it difficult to install a used column I mean getting it it in the right position to bolt in so steeringwheel will be in center etc.

thanks

Default RE: STEERING COLUMN REPLACE.

It isn't going to be all that easy to get the replacement steering wheel aligned properly... You don't need to lock the old column if you aren't reusing it... You may want to just to be able to set the replacement one to the same location. You should be able to do so with a small punch. I have one that came in a 12 piece Craftsman punch set that works quite nicely.

The actual removal of the steering column is fairly straight forward and since you have an alldata account, I won't elaborate.

Please let us know how it goes!
