Default Stock Gauges--Curious

I was curious--I have a 95 LS. It has the gauge package that didn't come with the stock tach, and I really like to see how high I'm running. Is it possible to swap out the stock cluster(w/o tach)for another stock cluster that does have it? Would it be a direct swap w/o any other mods? Just wondering if it's possible.

Direct swap will work with the 95-97 years.

So no other mods to make the tach work? Just plug and play? Good to go?

Yep with /\

For my '97, I searched everywhere, including the GM parts catalog to find out what the OEM p/n was. Turns out any 95-97 S10/S15 p/u or Blazer/Jimmy dash would work. Some knuclehead on ebay told me a '98 unit would fit, but they're more rounded than the squareish units of 95-97. (Turns out only 98-2000 are interchangeable).

I got a cluster from a salvage yard out of a '95 S10 pickup.
It took me all of 45 minutes to remove and replace the boneyard unit ($60.00), and low and behold; it WORKS. I also tore both units apart to swap out the odometer, so that I retained original miles readings.

Old unit coming out:

Damn! I could've gotten a complete cluster for my truck for $20! I'm definitely gonna get me a cluster! Thx!

I did the same gauge swap in my '96. Works perfectly!
