Default strange electrical problem...seat?

So the other night I started up my 2000 blazer and noticed a strange burnt smell. You know, the electrical type. I didn't know what it was or where it was coming from. But I did notice my lights flickering a little as I was driving. Then yesterday I opened the door and sat in the driver's seat, and the dome light flickered, and I could hear the rear hatch release clicking on and off. I got out and popped the hood to see if I had a loose battery connection or anything. Nothing. I got back in and it did it again. I realized it was only happening when I sat in the seat. So I got out again, raised the seat up again, and it stopped doing it. I hope I didn't wreck anything. There must be a pinched wire or something. Anyone else ever have this problem? Any thoughts on if it's really just a wire shorting out under my seat?

Default RE: strange electrical problem...seat?

Yes, it is most likely a wire shorting to the seat adjuster on the outboard side of your seat where the harness passes through the frame to the switch. I've repaired several of these for this problem, but usually the resulting failure is an inoperative seat due to a circuit breaker tripping.
