Strange whirring noise from underneath
#1
2001 Blazr Xtreme 2-dig.
I have this strange whirring noise coming from my truck. It sort of goes whoomp whoomp whoomp while I drive. It's especially noticeable when I decelerate AND accelerate. But a couple of odd things, it doesn't get louder when I turn, and seems louder in the back seat. Is there any sort of bearings in the rear in the axles that could cause this? I don't think it could be coming from the front because it's not as noticeable in the front seat. My guess would be passenger side more towards the rear of the vehicle is the location of the sound.

Could be wheel bearings in the back or possibly a u-joint. Need to get the back end up in the air and check for play at the wheels and pinion/u-joint area.

Good idea. I don't know if I have a U-joint issue. Last time I had it up in the air there was no play in the shaft. Won't hurt to check again, though. Bearings hopefully aren't a huge PITA. Never done work like that on the rear.
