tailgate problem PLEASE HELP

tailgate problem PLEASE HELP
recently my tailgate has stopped working and will not open by either pushing the button inside, by key, or by the remote. when i do either of those three things it makes a wierd noise like it wants to open but wont if that makes any sense... if anybody has any info or has had this problem and fixed it please let me know its driving me insane. thanks

The first thing I would try, before trying to tear apart the interior trim, is to spray lots of WD40 or something similar into the rear lock cylinder and work it back and forth for a while. I don't know if it will help, but it shouldn't hurt.

Well, I guess it would be a good idea to know what year of truck we are talking about...
I believe that the release for the rear glass is all electronic on the '96+... So if it's making a noise and not releasing the glass, then there is a problem somewhere in the glass release actuator.
