Default temperature/compass display

I just got my '99 Blazer back from the body shop to repair damage from a collision with a deer. The deer hit the driver’s side and completely destroyed the driver’s side mirror.

The mirror is the higher end OEM one with self-dimming and is heated. In interior rear view mirror, besides having sensor and controls for the self-dimming, also has a temperature and compass display.

The body shop did a very nice job of repairing the damage and they detailed it before getting it back to me. The problem is that the temperature display now says "OD". If one were to assume that the temperature outside is 32F and I was in Metric mode, it would have displayed 0c. The Compass does show the correct direction and is not asking to be calibrated.

Pressing the US/MET button has absolutely no effect.

Has anybody ever seen a code like that?

the temperature problem may be a damaged or missing sensor in behind the front grille.

Try pressing and holding the two buttons for a few seconds, I think that resets it....

So is the compass/temp in the mirror or in the console? Blazers never got the comp/temp in the mirror.

I've never had one nor ever heard of one that said OD, they usually say OC which means there's a problem with the sensor or wiring.

My mistake, yes the code is OC, not OD.. The display is indeed on the ceiling console.. Holding both buttons for several seconds brings up '8 var', I believe this is the direction offset from magnetic to true.

Check the temp sensor mounted on the grille support. Make sure it's plugged in, the body shop may have forgotten.

The pic below shows where it is mounted.

I took the Blazer back to the body shop this morning, they found a connector that wasn't fully seated. Temp display now works fine. I wish that all of my problems were so easily fixed!

Thanks to all those who responded.
