Default Time for new A/C pump?

So my blazer 99 zr2 was recharged last year. It has 118,000 on it.The guy said I might have a weak A/C pump. I worked all last summer. Now the pump wont turn on. Is it shot? Time to throw a new one on? Any ideas? Thanks!

You really need to get it properly diagnosed. You can spend a lot of money just replacing components.

You obviously had a leak that required the recharge last year. Whats to say that the leak just stopped leaking..? If you do the DIY recharge kits found at walmart or your favorite autoparts store, you will need to jumper the compressor clutch relay to put in more refridgerant. You will want to try this first to see if the system performs properly. If it does, then you may have a pressure sensor fault. If it does not, then you probably need another recharge. If that is the case, you really should look into where the leak is.

if you plan on doing the work yourself I recomend ackits.com, however unless you really are proficient in air conditioning systems you may find it cheaper to allow your mechanic to do the work. ackits do have cheaper prices on all componets than auto parts store though.

I also only recoment you do your own work if and only if your system is already completely discharged of refrigerate because of epa/ozonehole/environmental issues.

I completely retrofitted my 91 s-10 blazer and learned a tremendous amount of information.

Hope this helps
