timing belts

Default timing belts

i was just curious if 2000 jimmies have timing belts on them...ive seen both yes and no so i got no clue lol

100% fact they have timing chains,not belts. Usually never any issues. They rarely ever break they stretch. Leave it be unless you know for a fact its bad.

how could you tell if its stretched? would it drive any differently or would the chain just have to be measured for stretching to know it was bad

I agree, great info. The only problem is your 2000 4.3L does not have degree marks. You'll need to "estimate" the amount of movement. Anything more than ~3/4" to 1" the chain needs to be replaced.
