Default tranny?

im buying this blazer from my friend it had the tranny done 9k miles ago but when you gas it, its almost like the clutch is slipping on a manual car. this is a automatic but it revs high and doesnt go anywhere and doesnt seem to want to shift sometimes. and under load up a hill it has absolutely no guts.. 10-20mph tops if that. and it throws the truck back and forth if you try to give it to much gas. im thinking it may be torque converter. although the tranny guy who did it said he put in a new torque converter that is about the only thing i can think of. if anyone has had this problem or can help me out with any ideas that would be great...thanks everyone. sorry this is so long.

What year truck? Do you know which tranny is in it? I'll narrow your choices down for ya. Pick one 700R4, 4L60, or 4L60E. If it is hte 4L60E, seek professional help.

If it is the 700R4 or 4L60 it could very wel be your TV cable. The tv cable controls when and how your tranny shifts. It needs to be properly adjusted. Easy to do. Post up and we can go from there.

'97 should be the 4L60E tranny. It is electronically (computer) controlled. There is nothing you can adjust on it. Make sure it is full of fluid, the fluid smells OK, and is red in color, after that. Take it too a tranny shop for diagnosis.
