Default transfer case question!

Hey guys I just replaced my 4l60e tranny the other day. I kep my old transfer case and just bolted it to the new tranny. I loosened the 7/8 drain lug on the bottom of the transfer case, and drained all of the fluid. Now upon completion of the transmission installation I added about 7-8 quarts of transmission oil. My question is will the transfer case automatically fill up with fluid, like is it all one system??
Thanks a lot everyone!!

nope. transfercase and transmission are separate units. if your transfercase does by chance steal fluid from the trans then the transfercase input seal is bad and needs to be replaced. right above that bolt you drained the fluid from there should be a identical one. just fill that one up to the top then close it up. also did you seal the mounting surfaces between the two? the transercase is a sealed unit but the transmission is not, it allows fluid to back to the tailshaft section for lubrication

That actually depends on what transfer case you have. If you have the 4 button (2hi,4hi,4low and auto) then you need autotrack tansfer case fluid. Very expensive, but transmission fluid will not work in that transfercase.

Yes it is blue in color. Might as well be green, it costs about 30 bucks a quart lol
