Transmission issue
Recently pulled tranny to replace busted flywheel. I DROVE this into garage preformed the required surgery to remove the beast. While it was out i replaced the shift solenoids A&B ( 1-2 & 3-4 ) ONLY thing that was done to it. I did this due to an issue that was tracked down with a prior issue of falling on it's face in 4th gear ( as if coasting). Put everything back much to my suprise no leaks!! BUT i've lost ALL gears nothing , nada ,zippo. 4l60e trans OR??? is it a 4l60-e and does it make a difference witthe (Dash)??? Because i don't remember if a 4l60 DASH e or just 4l60e and NOT taking back out unless absolutley no alternative. I'm guessing i got the wrong solenoids but unsure as the ones i bought said will work with the 4l60e and why would i lose everthing??? if they were "different" they were plug and play only physical difference was a screen in port vs none. Any help is appreciated just trying to eliminate possibilitys before pulling solenoids. Thanks
Figured so with the numbers but just wanted to make sure........Was done in the garage not the shop..Last time i took a vehicle in for a tranny issue they told me it was shot and wanted $2000..........friend of a friend pulled the ecm and reset the computer never had another issue........so a bit of a trust issue....!!
If you have a lot of miles (100,000+) and the trans fluid was changed, most likely the clutches are stripped. New fluid in an old trans can strip the fiber material from clutches.... If it was falling out of 4th, the 2-4 band might be wore, or the reaction shell splines are starting to strip. Did you have problems with reverse before the fluid change? Or shifting into 2nd? NO gears forward or reverse probably means torque converter shot or the pump is broke. The rotor "ears" in the pump can break if the converter isn't installed properly, which means pump won't work. If it's wrong shift solenoids, it will still have some forward movement. (In the wrong gear)
