This question may belong in a different section, I don't know but I have a question about the automatic transmission in my Blazer.
As some of you know by now, I resently bought a 1998 2WD Blazed with 171,000 on the odometer and I was wondering what type of transmission maintenance I should do in order to keep it running well. When I bought it I noticed a slight leak around the transmission pan. A quick twist of the ratchet fixed that problem but I got to thinking about it this morning while I was cleaning up after my lasted repair, the steering linkage, and thought I'd post the question to the forum members.
The fluid coming out of the transmission when it was leaking was a nice shade of red. So it didn't look to old but what do you guys recommend with a transmission which has so many miles on it?
Thanks.

I service a fleet of GM vehicles with the 4L60E transmission, some have over 360K miles on the original transmission. Provided you're not having any problems, change the fluid, filter & gasket every 36K miles. Use Dexron/Mercon LV fluid. Drive it civilized, (no drag racing or hole shots). If you plan on towing any kind of trailer, install a transmission cooler. There's no such thing as too big, when it comes to a trans cooler
