Trouble Adjusting Trans Linkage Cable - Need Help
'97 GMC Jimmy 4x4 2-door. Floor Shift.
I recently replaced the trans on my truck, and now I have a misalignment issue with the selector vs. the trans position.
I am having trouble with figuring out how to physically adjust the adjuster. I took the metal clip out of the adjuster (looks like a big flat staple) and it didn't seem to do anything. I don't know if I'm not doing it right, or if it's seized, or ??
Basically if the selector is in park, the trans is actually still in reverse. It's fairly close, because I can disconnect the cable at the trans and manually put the trans into park, and then I can put the cable back on if I loosen the bolts for where the bracket attaches to the trans and then tighten those back up. Then it will work correctly to start the truck, but as soon as I shift out of park, I can't get it all the way back into park with the floor selector (even though the floor selector is as far forwards as it will go). I need the cable to go "forwards" at the trans a little bit so that it has an appropriate full range.
I'm soooo close to driving my truck. Any help is appreciated. Pictures, etc.
