Went to autozone today to pull codes. Code P1870 came up twice. Their puter said it was some lamp short circuit or transfer case switch. I bought the switch and can't find where in h*ll it goes. I am not that stupid but I couldn't locate it anywhere. The book said by the dash. That wasn't it. Looked all over the transfer case and no go. Went to autozones website and looked up the part and it said it doesn't have one...wtf. Does anyone have access to codes that could tell me what it is. I got a 1999 4dr 4x4. It goes into 4 wheel drive ok and the lamps work fine. any help would be paid back by a six pack of beer.

Wow... Don't know where they came up with that...
OBDII.com Codes Listing states P1870 a "Transmission Component Slipping" or "TCC Stuck Off" depending on your vin, but I'm leaning towards "Trans Component Slipping"...

Thanx Swart. Now I know exactly what the problem is. That stupid left half shaft has a boot cut and I bet thats where the code is from. But wasn't aware that it would shoot a code up. Autozone is on my list of peeps to chew out in the morning

Well, hate to break it to you again, but that code means that an internal clutch is slipping inside the trans... You could try a fluid change on the trans, but it isn't a good thing to have happen and normally they only get worse.

Yeah I was afraid you'd say that but atleast I know what area to start looking at. I've changed up and lower bushings, tires, sway bar bushings. I'm real picky about things running right. getting wore out trying to figure this thing out. I like this blazer but miss my Sonoma pick up. Lady the nite before thanksgiving decided hauling a$$ out of Walmart and tearing my truck up was more important. No insurance at that.

That is some bad luck buddy, I'm hoping to get my $500 deductible back in a couple of months for something that happened three years ago!
Good luck with your Blazer, I have '99 too.

Insurance company with after them. I was at a friend's son's high school graduation. An uninsured neighbor backed out, hit my Blazer, drove off. I was a nice guy and waited two hours for him to return prior to calling cops. However after two hours he still hadn't returned, I was told he was running a roommate to work across town (that should take 30 minutes in my town). I finally called the cops. They both show up at the same time. I pay to fix the Blazer, will me and my insurance company. So my insurance company sues them and started garnishing his wages two years later. Now they say................
I'll believe it when I see it.

Damn, that pisses me off. Uninsured Motorists! WTF. There should be no such thing in this day and age. If you can't fully pay to use a motor vehicle, RIDE THE DAMN BUS!
