Truck stalled, won't start....Fuel Pressure is only 18 psi
Thanks. We finished it tonight. The hardest part was getting the hoses on the back aligned, but patience and a jack got it done. The wires and grounds were clean and fine, and the sending unit showed about exactly half a tank, which is what I know I have.
And here's another tip: For the vent valve up front, your best bet is to leave the hose disconnected until the tank is completely on, then use your sense of touch to work the hose onto the nozzle. Unless you've got x-ray vision, you can forget about trying to see what you're doing.
Before I fired up the engine, I tested the pressure again with the gauge. This time it was at 56 psi, and gas squirted out the tube! Prior to the replacement, it wouldn't go above 46 (44 when it died), and gas just trickled out the gauge's tube. This was a job and a half. I'm very amazed with anyone who completed this one in 2.5 hours without a lift, because I sure couldn't have done it. It's definitely the most intense job I've done so far -- but it was still well worth it!
