I'm new to the forum with a 2002 Blazer Extreme with 108,000 miles. I want to get it tuned to improve milage. What are the best plugs, spark plug wires? Any other typical parts replacements?

I'm in California. Can't remove the Cat. Is there a way to improve the cat and if so, what type of muffler will benefit gas mileagee and give me a little tone? Will a K&N cold air induction really make that much difference or is there a wiser expenditure?

Any advice will be appreciated. This seems to be a great place to learn about these rigs...

Welcome to the forum Bruce ! Having owned and maintained several Tahoe , Jimmy and Blazer vehicles myself I've found that the OEM Delco plug work best and avoid the Bosch line of plugs . For wires I like the Napa Belden wire sets - max or pro (8mm vs 7mm) . Distributor cap and rotor replacements ... well the aftermarket ones work but don't seem to "last" like OEM to me . I also try to find a cap with brass terminals rather than aluminum . KN filter ... Yes , I put one on my 2 door V8 Tahoe and it was OK but like the purolator OEM replacement for the 4.3 . Don't worry about the cat unless it causes problems - I like the Dynomax ultra flow muffler , great tone no fart can sound or interior cabin resonance issues plus they are stainless steel . I ran a set on the Tahoe over 10 years .

EDIT : Chevron techron concentrate I've always found to make the most of fuel MPG's with these GM vortec engines

If you drive in town a lot, get an ecu tune, I was getting high 15 mpg then after ecu tune mid 17mpg. Highway/interstate went down from 18 to 17
