just replaced lifters and was looking at vacume lines, noticed that some were dry rotted . replaced them and cannot find out where it went .one end was not connected. it is on the drivers side .goes from where egr plugs into on manifold.the small hose. it then goes to small valve looking thing , it splits two different ways. one into a loom that goes inside truck, the other dead ends to nothing . this one is open and i can hear sucking when truck is running, and hood closed. the truck now stutters a little . cannot find decent diagram to figure out where it goes. there is nothing around that it appears to plug into. any help greatly appreciated , thanks in advance

Try this (scroll down)...there's a pic of the vacuum lines from my '96 Sonoma. Only difference on your truck is instead of a vacuum reservoir (ball) attached to the hood, the vacuum reservoir is tucked into the side wall. Hard to see...but there is a connection there.

Couple more pics here. Not real good pics, but that opening in the inner body panel is next to the brake lines and just a little back from the fuse box. All you'll see is a piece of black plastic flush with the body wall. It'll be hard to see the nipple sticking out from the plastic, but it's there...try a flashlight and a mechanic's mirror.
