Pic of the old, corroded, coolant leaking, unrepairable LIM. I kind of wondered how the mechanic could tell that it wasn't just a rotten gasket.

If there is no hole in the intake itself, then I would say it was just bad sealant... the gasket itself oesnt cover that area, it's just a bead of sealant that goes along that end...

I believe that is what happened. The sealant sprung a leak. Would it be fair to say there is no need to change the oil?

You should be able to tell if there's anything in the oil without replacing it, maybe check the dip stick and or empty some out of the pan and see.

If it's not contaminated, I wouldn't
