watery black liquid leaking from rear of exhaust
#1
Hi, i just noticed today my 97 Blazer has a black watery liguid leaking out of the housing that the last exhaust pipe is attached too...i dunno what its called its like a rounded square housing. Basically if u stand at the back of the truck follow the exhause pipe about 3 feet and right where it goes into the housing it is leaking, i got right under and literally saw it leaking, but only while running....I am taking it to the mechanic tomorrow, can anyone plz help me out with an idea as to what this is??, do i need a new muffler, and if so are they expensive? there is only clear water coming out of the tailpipe!
plz help im worried!!!

Not sure if I'm reading that right, but it sounds like the leak is coming from the muffler. It shouldn't be a problem, since most vehicles do leak from the muffler. My roommates F150 leaks black water from the muffler everytime he drives it. In other words, if you aren't throwing a code, and the exhaust isn't making any excessive noise, you should be fine.

Impatient much ? well if your leaking fuel from the exhaust you have a leak in the engine its self you can check for leaks in the engine doing a leak down test with a fuel pressure gauge
read this link to test for leaks

is there any engine light on ?

i dont think its fuel leaking from the muffler, like theres a crack on the bottom edge of the muffler and when running a watery black liquid drips, it does not smell like gas. the gas smell is another issua

where is the crack located ?

Based on the questions you are asking, my best advice for you is to take your truck to a professional and let him diagnose and fix it.

condensation is common , that is why there is a weep hole in most mufflers. some cars produce much more than others, I dont think I'd worry too much about the black water. the gas though, is serious.. if you can smell it, it is prolly leaking someplace and you surely dont want to go up in a ball of flames. if you are not a mechanic, take it to someone who is. fuel filler tubes seem to be the most common problem.. rusting out and leaking. be careful and get it looked at.

My suggestion to you is do this test above and see where is the gas leak. the black water is leaking from your catalytic converter. if i were you I would take the car to shop to get it diagnostic.
