What at is the timing spec on 1990 5.7 Blazer?
I put a new distributer in and need to set the timing 0n the balancer. What vacuum lines do I disconnect and where do I set it on the timing tab?
Thanks

Do you still have the underhood emissions label? It should say how to set the timing.

It has been years since I did it on a 90 truck I had, but you don't disconnect any vacuum lines. If memory serves, there is a brown wire going to the passenger side of the firewall you disconnect from a small black plastic "box." This allows you to manually set the initial timing. Once you plug it back in, the computer takes over control of the timing. As for the specs, I don't have a clue, but you should be able to find it somewhere online. Back when I did it, the internet was still a thing of science fiction.

DUH, Gee, What is under hood label? If I had one I wouldn't be asking.;
As far as clues, i dont want clues, I am asking for definite answers.

Then I highly suggest getting the proper manual, such as I used when I did the same as you are trying. That truck and associated manual are long gone from my ownership.

All I wanted was a simple answer to a question that I had.
I guess that I had to much of an expectation of my request.
My obvious troubleshooting involved the following:
Check under good emission label for the timing info; that being gone, next step.
Ask for help on the timing, in this day we dont use manuals. (What is a Chilton or Motor). I did the easiest and and for some help.
If I wanted to guess at it I might have just as well have a tech student guess at it.
I understand that timing a engine is a simple procedure but I needed a starting point.
I got my starting point from a forum with more respectable and informed users with more experience.
Good luck with you condescending attitude and "look it up in the manual" mentality.
This is not the forum for me. I demand respect.
