Default What winter and summer tires are you running?

I have a 2001 Blazer LS RWD with a locking rear differential.
I recently bought it from Florida and now it will gets abused in the Michigan snowy winter with pot holed roads. 8^(

I like to run separate winter tires for the snow and another set of tires for spring, summer, and fall. It really made a huge difference with my 1987 Audi 5000 Quattro to run dedicated tires rather than all season tires.

The Blazer mostly gets driven by the wife and in the summer we tow a boat and jet ski. The Blazer does not get off-roaded except for an occasional dirt road or poor boat ramp. I just bought a second set of used 15" rims just like I the ones on the Blazer now for dedicated snow tires. The tire size I am running is P235/75R15.

So what tires do your recommend and what are you running?

WINTER SNOW TIRES - I was thinking about Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 with P235/75-15 size ???

SUMMER TIRES - Right now I have "Goodyear Wrangler Radial" P235/75-15 tires. They seem a bit noisy since they have an off-road looking tread.
They came on the Blazer when I bought it this past summer and seem to be dried out and older. So I think I should buy new ones in the spring.
I need a tire that is rated for the weight of towing and produces good highway characteristics. What do you recommend?

Thanks for all responses

I run BFG KO's throughout the spring until hunting season. Then I swap over to Goodyear Duratracs from hunting season through to the spring.

The BFG's are probably a bit more aggressive than what you are wanting but I spend a bit of time offroad. Take a look at some BFG AT/D2's, I think that is what they are. More geared toward onroad than offroad but still somewhat capable offroad.

If you don't plan on ever going offroad, take a look at some BFG Long Trails. They came stock on my Blazer and lasted forever but really, really lacked offroad.

Winter Tires: Nokian Hakkapeliitta R SUV - 235/75 R15 105R (on their own basic winter rims)

Summer: needing to replace my tread-worn Michelins. Not sure what to go with; I mostly just drive to/from work, but I live in the Canadian Rockies and occasionally do quite long moderate-to-a-bit-sketchy "logging road" drives when I go on backpacking trips, etc.

I can't recommend Nokians enough, for winters. Just amazing tires.

Hercules Trail Digger MT all year round
very chunky tread and works very well in the snow and not loud on pavement
I was also concidering their Terra Trac R/S because the tread is very similar to the BFG AT TA
My Blazer sounds like it gets the same duty as yours , mine is 4WD however

I run Goodyear Wrangler Authority's year around, I pick up a set of 5 from Walmart with full warranties and lifetime balance and rotate for 900$.

I have been really impressed with these tires, they drive nice, are quiet and smooth, and they do awesome in snow and mud.
