Default wheel hub

How long do they normaly last? In 2 years, the same hub has gone bad 3 times. 1st one at 50K, 2nd at 58K, part still under warranty, replaced free, now at 95K, I hear that dreaded noise again.

Depends on how much you go 4wheeling and what wheels/tires you have on your blazer...

With stock wheels/tires and not wheeling, you should be seeing way more than that out of your wheel bearings.

They might be over torquing the nut on the CV shaft. That'd cause it to wear out prematurely.

You very well could've gotten adefective bearing the first time it was replaced...

The life expectancy of the wheel bearings depends highly on the quality of the bearing used. Just because it has a lifetime warranty doesn't mean that it is a good bearing. That is just there to entice you into putting their product on your vehicle. I have found through my experiences that SKF and Timken bearings are the best you can buy and well worth the added cost. If you do the work yourself, you may be inclined to use the cheaper products, but how many times can you afford to change the same part even if it was a free replacement? It still takes the hour, 2 hours, whatever it was to remove the defective part and replace it. I'd rather drop the $$$ on quality and do the job once than to keep on repeating the same steps over and over again with cheaper parts.

the shop told me it was a genuine GM part. $543. for the first one to be installed, $0 for second. I'll have to call and ask if it has a lifetime warranty. Do they normaly have it?

If it was indeed a genuine GM part, then it must have been a defective part the first time around, and more than likely something like an over-torqued axle nut the second time around causing it to wear out sorta prematurely again.

Find out from the shop how they tighten down the nut...ask them for the torque value for the axle nut and then get your self a 1/2" torque wrench and double check their work that way you can be sure that it is done correctly...I would give you the value but my service information is currently not working....

So you need wheel bearings correct... Is this a 4wd or 2wd? What is the year? You can often find wheel bearings on eBay, but you'd have to check with the sellers to see if they can ship to you. I'm sure there has to be some online retailers that will ship abroad...
