hey everyone newbie here....title pretty much explains what I want to know, the reason i'm asking is because i let my fuel gauge go down to what it said was near empty and i just want to know when its supposed to light up...i know the light illuminates because it comes on briefly when i start the car..thanks in advanced for your help greatly appreciated

What year did they start puting the low fuel light in? Mines a 97 and it doesn't have it.

 

It usually comes on when your low on fuel, hahahahahahahah. JK
Mine in my 03 comes on with about 1/8 of tank left.

 

i got an 1992 chevy blazer with a digital cluster mine gos on when i hit 3 lines i think thats like 1/4 tank

 

i think most 2nd gen blazers come on when you have about 1 1/2 gallons of fuel left in the tank.

p.s. it wont get you far :-(

 

And running your gas that low means your fuel pump isn't being cooled as well as it should be (since it's cooled by the gas in your tank). I used to run my truck about 350 miles between fillups. Now I only go to 250 so the pump is always covered in gas.

 

Now that I think about it, when I ran out of gas last year, I don't remember seeing a light...lol. If I hit 275 miles to a tank, I start searching for a station.
